  • DML Connect is a data management company that sources data from partners and resells it to organisations to help manage their operations and enable compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This privacy policy explains how we collect, process, and share personal data.

    We partner with commercial businesses that primarily gather data through online competitions, comparison websites, lifestyle clubs, and offer websites. We also source public and open-source data. All data partners are vetted to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory compliance.

    We provide this data to third parties for purposes such as revenue collection, identity verification, credit risk management, asset reunification, tracing and data linkage and direct marketing.

  • DML helps manage and centralise consumer databases to support business operations in various ways, including:

      We help organisations recover money owed to them by providing up-to-date contact details (like email or phone numbers) of individuals who may have changed their contact information.

    Use of postal address data

    We make your postal address available for organisations to use for fraud prevention and identity verification.

    Unless registered with the MPS (Mail Preference Service) we will also share your address for direct marketing by post, based on the demographic information provided by you at sign up to the data partner. 

    Use of telephone data

    We make your telephone number(s) available for organisations to use for fraud prevention and identity verification and debt recovery, collection and enforcement.

    Unless registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) we will also share your telephone number for direct marketing by live marketing call based on the demographic information provided by you at sign up to the data partner, but not for SMS or automated call marketing.

    Use of email

    We make your email address available for organisations to use for fraud prevention and identity verification and debt recovery, collection and enforcement and customer acquisition.

    Use of Dates of Birth​

    We make your Date of Birth  available for organisations to use for Identity verification, data enhancement and customer acquisition 

    Use of Lifestyle ad demographic data

    We make your Lifestyle ad demographic data  available for organisations to use for data enhancement and customer acquisition

    Use of Insurance renewal month

    We make your  Insurance renewal month available for organisations to use for customer acquisition

    Use of Child present flag

    We make Child present flags available for organisations to use for data enhancement.

    If you give permission to be contacted by advertisers via email, DML Connect help to identify relevant advertisers and supports the email communication to you based on the demographic information provided by you at sign up to the data partner. 

    DML Connect does not sell this information outright to any advertiser.  Emails you might receive will be sent on behalf of the source to whom you have given your consent to be contacted and will be identified as having originated from the source you provided consent to. 

    This approach is described as a 'host emailing' where the 'sender' represents the holder of your consent for such communications. Emails received will be clearly identified as having originated from the original data controller and their contact details will also be provided, as well as the opportunity to unsubscribe from emails from that organisation.

    Digital use of Data

    We share product data directly with brands and via agencies. We also share data (usually in a form where individuals cannot be directly identified) with other marketing companies such as social media and programmatic platforms. We make sure the recipients of our data are reputable entities by conducting appropriate checks on them. Before we share our data we enter into written agreements with recipients which contain terms that safeguard the data.

    ​We also use data on an ad hoc basis to assist with law enforcement queries or UK Missing Person queries.

    • Personal Information: Including Names, addresses, emails, and telephone numbers.

    • Demographic and Lifestyle Data: Including Dates of birth, lifestyle details, and demographic information.

    • Insurance Data: Including Insurance renewal month.

    • Transactional Data: including property data, financial information.

    Data We Do Not Collect or Process

    We want to reassure you that we do not collect or process the following types of data:

    • Financial Data: We do not hold any details about your financial transactions or bank account information.

    • Credit Scores: We do not store or process your credit score information.

    • Health Information: We do not collect or process any health-related data about you.

    • Political Preferences: We do not store information about your political beliefs or affiliations.

    • Religious Preferences: We do not collect or process any information regarding your religious beliefs.

    • Sexual Preferences: We do not hold any data related to your sexual preferences.

    • Children’s Information: We do not hold sensitive information relating to under 18’s.

  • We may share your data with various organisations, including credit agencies, identity verification services, fraud prevention providers, marketing firms and financial companies. These organisations may use your data for the following purposes including:

  • We process your email and personal data for marketing purposes based on the consent you provided to our data partners when they collected your information. If you wish to withdraw your consent, please contact us, and we will suppress your details.

    We also rely on "legitimate interests" as our lawful basis for sharing non-MPS (Mail Preference Service) postal information and non-TPS (Telephone Preference Service) phone numbers for marketing (excl SMS). Additionally, we also use this basis for processing this and other personal data for purposes including collections, fraud prevention, tracing, identity verification.

  • The length of time we keep your data depends on the terms of our agreements with our data partners. When we receive a refreshed file from a partner, any data beyond their retention period is removed, and we no longer hold it, or if we are requested by a data partner to suppress or remove a record.

    If we stop working with a partner, we remove the data from our active systems but keep it for 6 months to fulfil rights requests, after which it is fully deleted.

    We may also need to keep data if required by law or regulation.

  • DML Connect has strong technical and organisational measures in place to protect your data. We are Cyber Essentials Plus Certified and ISO27001/9001 accredited, and our systems include annual PEN testing.

    Access to personal information is restricted to staff trained in data management and security processes including GDPR.

  • We store your personal information in a secure cloud environment provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Specifically, this data is stored in AWS data centres located within the United Kingdom (UK). We take appropriate measures to ensure that your data is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

    Importantly, we do not transfer or store your data in any country outside of the UK. All data handling is strictly contained within this region to ensure compliance with local regulations and to provide you with the highest level of privacy and security.

  • Under data protection law, you have several rights:
